TOPIC: dismissal

dismissal 2 months 1 week ago #246228

Hi o have been off sick long term and was awaiting a specialist appointment before returning back to work. In light of coronavirus it’s unlikely I’ll see the specialist before a year on the sick is up, so I’ll be dismissed on grounds of hill health if I can’t return back to work before then. What can I do?

Bernie have you discussed your issues thoroughly with your employer? Are they willing/able to make reasonable adjustments so that you may be able to return to your employment?

Hi Bernie
I thought it might be an idea for you to contact ACAS.
www.acas.org.uk/contact
Check out their website.

Helpline 0300 123 1100 (Mon-Fri 8 - 6)

It is the:-
Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service. It is a publicly funded independent organisation that aims to promote better employment relations.
It currently has special advice for employees regarding the COVID 19 pandemic situation.
Their call waiting times are presently overstretched, but I am sure that it would be well worth your while in trying to contact them.
I have used them in the past, & have been given invaluable information.

Good Luck
