Does a new claim for Employment and Support Allowance trigger a review of Disability Living Allowance?
Thank you for your time.

It has not in our case but the wife has been placed in the support group without having to go for a medical.

Hi i receive dla and as far as i know
the two benefits only seem to be linked
together is when they think you are fit
for work it will be intresting to see
if they do as you say but the way things
are going over esa i can see shortly they
will change the system because the amount
of tribunals they are looseing and on top
of that it must be costing a lot of tax
payers money and that must set against the
high level of mistakes they are makeing
do not worry wait till you hear

Does this mean that ESA and DLA are not linked?
Thankyou

ESA and DLA are two entirely separate allowances. ESA is for persons incapable of work as a result of their illness/disability, whereas DLA is awarded for a persons mobility/care needs. In the latter case, a claimant can be in work and still receive DLA.

ESA and DLA medical reports are however becoming increasingly used and cross-referred to decided entitlement to both allowances, but as I have said, the criteria for qualifying for these allowances is completely different.

As someone has posted earlier they do compare both the ESA and DLA medical information together to try and catch you out, they are in my mind, sneakt crafty conniving sly little buggers!
