TOPIC: ESA claim

ESA claim 1 year 10 months ago #181547

Thank you, I did not make a claim a few years ago, because no one at DWP or anywhere knew about the special carers rule, I found out myself about it last year after a very long trawl through gov docs. Anyway, looking at current claim I assume a fit note dated tomorrow lasting till May will be what I need?

If you are not trying to back date then yes.

Sorry , submitted before I d finished, is it ok for my GP to issue one for May to July upfront too, because she knows I have difficulty liasing with doctors to get the fit notes.

I'm doubtful that they will but you can ask.

My GP would do a May to July fit note but I meant would DWP be ok with one like that . Or would the DWP be funny about a premature issue date, as in tomorrows date

I am not sure it is appropriate to backdate, I mean if the capital in my buy to let is disregarded whilst selling , that won t happen till next week when it goes on the market, so the income based ESA would not be applicable until then. I don t know whether the national insurance aspect could be backdated???
