DLA award using BW Guides was created by Blue Peter
Hello All
My friend lost his HRM 12years ago and has reaplied time and time again even to tribunal stage. He used all sorts of agencies and even once paid to have his form filled in! He eventually got 2yr award of LRC after a tribunal. Well He asked me to complete the renewal form for him so I did using the BW guides for physical and mental health disabilities. Well I must say it caused me Mega stress as getting the right information from him was like getting blood out of a stone. No wonder he had been so unsuccessful before, no idea of the right attitude to adopt and how to present a case. It was even more stressfull as I only had a week to do it in and was waiting for a heart by-pass. The day after my operation 20th Sept, I received a text to say he had been awarded HRM, MRC. No medical, no appeal, no tribunal, just a 2yr award, just like that! All down to the BW guides. I am only now home recovering and able to go onto forum.
Regards
Peter

Hi Peter

Well done, winning your friends HRM back. He's very lucky to have you helping him despite your own health problems. I hope you have a good rest and recover well.

Hi Peter,

Very well done, you should be proud.
I would hope your friend will now realise what is involved in the process.

He has the next two years to get the info and nous for his next award.

Congrats again, Pud

It goes to show how critical any benefits forms are filled in correctly, this could be the difference between getting an award and not getting an award.

Well done.

Hi peter,

Excellent work, thanks for sharing the good news even if it does sound like you almost gave yourself a heart attack helping your friend complete his form.

Hello All
Thanks for the replies. I dont think most people realize just how much time and effort you really need to put into an application for DLA. You need to answer every question thoroughly and comprehensively putting every detail you can think of and cross relating it to every other question, not contradicting youself and anticipating every possible wrong assumption, an essay for every answer, repeating youself to exhaustion. I actually didnt think I had done a good enough job in the time available. I think it would compare with tendering and estimating for building work, you have a 4 week deadline to submit a tender for say £1m to £2m. on your own it takes about 50 to 60 hours spread over those 4 weeks. It would be totally unfair to expect a novice to know even where to start, but I think expecting a claimant, who could be desperately ill, to present his case on his own is ridiculous. I have 3 more friends in similar degrees of refusal so I will see what I can do for them. I'm on the mend!
