Hi all Mod’s.

Can you tell me please if there are any circumstances whereby the DWP may choose to reassess a claimant on paper, based on previous ESA50 and supporting evidence?

Am sure I read something to that effect in the big DWP/DMG or similar and can’t no remember the term used??????

I also don’t think that I received my Christmas Bonus in 2013 but am reluctant to contact them in case it generates an ESA50 prematurely!!!!!!!!!!!

Many thanks

P.

Hi P,

The above scenario is possible, but highly unlikely.

If you are expecting an ESA50 for reassessment, and have not yet received one, this is more likely to be due to ATOS/DWP suffering a huge backlog with The ESA WCA process.

The DWP stated that all IB, IS and SDA recipients would be transferred over to ESA by Spring 2014, maybe they are concentrating on those claimants, rather than current ESA recipients.

I am personally aware of two ESA recipients that have yet to receive an ESA50, and it is now 3-4 months since the end of the 2 year prognosis that they had on their ESA awards, so that is 5-6 months since they would have expected to receive a new ESA50.

Regarding the Xmas Bonus, we have had reports from members where they have had to chase up payment of their Xmas Bonus.

Doing so, should not have any effect of your reassessment.

I also had to contact the dwp about the Xmas bonus just last week and finally got it this week. My reassessment is now 3 months overdue so I think there is a big backlog in certain areas.
