son became ill during F2F was created by hassled mum
Hi all, my son was in receipt of DLA hrm and hrc as an indefinite award and has begun his transition to pip. We took him to his f2f assessment on Tuesday (originally they gave us a centre miles away which involved a lot of public transport and a 9am appt.)We had a centre 20 mins by car from home. During the f2f my son became unwell, he has Ehlers-Danlos syndrome with autonomic dysfunction and cardiac issues. The assessor couldn't open the windows, son was becoming increasingly breathless and faint. I told her that this was a common problem for him with his condition. however I am concerned that after this event my son was unable to fully focus on the rest of the questions. I think it would be wise to get a copy of the assessment report, how do I go about this.
many thanks

Contact the DWP office dealing with his claim, they can send you a copy of the report.

Hi all, I contacted the office dealing with my sons claim and they had not yet recived the report from the f2f, however they put a note on his file to send out a copy of the medical once they had received it. I called again yesterday as we are now over two weeks since the f2f and they have still not received it but the person I spoke to mentioned that there was a not to send out a copy. I asked him if my sons report had been sent to quality control but he had no idea if it had, my other concern was what if it was lost and he said not to worry as there would be a copy in the system. My questions are why are they using quality control and if they are how long on average is this taking. and is it normal for f2f medical info to take more than two weeks to hit the DWP system. Many thanks as always for your guidance.

I have received the medical report for my son and having gone through it there are some medical mistakes and I am not sure what to do about having them corrected. Firstly it states that my son has Hypertension and is not on medication. He actually has Hypotension due to a vascular disorder which can cause him to pass out, he is on medication for this which is listed at the start of the medical report from the f2f. secondly they feel that he should be able to walk 50 metres but in the paperwork we filled in the emphasis was on reliably and repeatedly as he suffers from hip and knee subluxations which means that every step is very painful for him. His cardiac issues means that after standing for a few minutes he becomes faint and breathless and joint laxity in his hands even with finger splinting makes it difficult to prepare and cook a meal however they feel that with adaptions he should manage, we have tried these but they do no help. last night his shoulder subluxed whilst picking up a cup of coffee which was then spilt all over him, I have not had the ;letter from the decision maker yet but on going through the medical report it looks like he will go from HRM & HRC indefinite award to standard for both, to be re assessed in two years. When we arrived the nurse did not now about Ehlers Danlos syndrome and that it is a genetic progressive disorder that has not cure. Not sure what to do as there are errors in the medical report and the nurse thinks he will be better in two years (which would be fantastic for my son to have a normal life) but sadly it is life long. Many thanks in advance for your help and advise.

Given how long it has been since the assessment I would expect a Decision to be imminent, if one has not already been made, however, there may still be a small window for you to influence it.

Sticking solely to areas where the assessors has referenced the wrong conditions, I would suggest you write to the DWP correcting the mistakes and including a brief description of the symptoms that he suffers from, if you can include a web link (or two) to support this it would help. I would also point out that this is a lifelong condition

This may prompt the Decision Maker to seek further medical advice.

I would not dispute any other errors in the report at this time as I think this will dilute the message you are sending that the assessors recommendations are based on the wrong conditions. This would be something to look at doing when you receive the Decision Letter.

Obviously you need to do this as soon as you can for it to have a chance of being effective.
