Hi guys last year as posted before we had our victory, my husband managed the face to face and changed from DLA to PIP both components fullest award for 10 years and beyond.

The problem we now have is, I am his carer and on full carers weekly amount and i do no other work because i look after him full time, I have been doing this for last 20 years.

He as been doing 18 hours a week self employed as a writer for last 20 years, his Dr told him he was signed off 20 years ago, but he wanted to do a few hours as a writer, despite his disabilities, so hes been on a disabled tax credit most of that time.

He now as had the dreaded forms from the taxman that says because he as not been able to make the national wage rate in his last two years his tax credit will stop under the new rules and guidelines.

He as been through so much since his accident in the 25 years ago, and i think its best he stops now anyways.

So if we don't claim a tax credit this year because his dr is ready to sign him off for good, can i claim income support for him because its more money in our case than him claiming esa with all the horrors that brings, been doing this now over 20 years and we all know how hard it is.

Providing, as a couple you can pass the means test for Income Support then you can make a claim.

If you are unsure then put your information into one of the online benefit calculators.

Providing your are not in a Universal Credit area, then it is your choice what you claim.

As I said it is your choice.
