It's not impossible, but it would be extremely rare for the DWP to do this.

Well, today the copy of the medical report and DM report arrived. I am amazed at the lies it contains. They have completely ignored all of my hubby's medical conditions and disabilities other than the bowl problems awarding only 15 points under this descriptor.
It's fantastic that he is in the SG for 6 months but he has to do it all again in a couple of months.
After long conversations with the DWP they have agreed to ask the medical assessors to look again at the case.
They told me that we cannot ask for a MR as the decision of support group can't be appealed. I am stunned that all the medical evidence can just be ignored. The next time he fills in a form and it is looked at surely they will wonder where the illnesses and disabilities of the last 20 years have come from as they do not exist on these current reports .
Please could you advise whether he can ask for a MR?

I'm not convinced that it is not allowed but there is no valid reason or Cause for an MR to be requested, as it is the award that is being challenged not the reasons that it was made.

Numerous conversations with DWP all over the country for the past week. After being told no MR could be done, we get told it's already happening. Everyone seems very bemused at the report and decision based on everything that was submitted originally to them. In about 10 days we should hear something. It's recognition of the illnesses and disabilities we want. Seeing the ESA and PIP reports together you would think it was referring to two different people.

Letter about MR arrived with no change. They still don't seem to get what we are asking them to look at. Given up now. Can't fight and deal with a complaint about the assessment, they have over the last year completely worn us down. Will just wait the couple of month's before the form's arrive again and fill them in. Thanks for all the help over the last few years, couldn't have done it without you.
