I have a great relationship with my GP, hes been away for about 6 weeks or so and Ive been in hospital. Since then Ive had my decision and I spoke to them on the phone requesting the GP Factural report they claimed was taken into account. I also put it in writing. This week I had an appointment at the doctors and there is no request for a GP Factural report. Also I asked my GP to confirm what I cannot do, wash my own body etc and cook etc, he dictated ;the letter in front of me. I went off to Age UK, and they went through the pointers again coming in the same as my form, and they confirmed my hospital stays right in the middle of their deadline so you never know they may take that into account, so a letter to Atos from Age UK. . I now sit and wait, I have to be prepared but also ready for the stress to start no doubt and I am due to go into hospital for possibly a 12 week stay. If I have to I shall go to tribunal been before, got to the court and the clerk came running towards me telling me she had been trying to contact me that morning, they threw the DWP case out, I am hoping I dont have to go but I am also hoping for the same outcome. How do you make them understand that lifetime ad long term illnesses, disabilities is just ordering repeat prescriptions - you no longer need specialists as they cannot do anything else? they dont seem to take notice.

The only way I can explain it is that those assessing claimants lack imagination, they see the assessment process as being very black and white when in reality claimants problems are all grey.

They like to pigeonhole claimants and whilst many claimants have problems that allow this, a significant proportion do not and assessors and DMs do not know how to deal with these.

And of course, many DMs and assessors are lazy, shortcut the process or do not follow it diligently.
