Universal credit and a new claim for pip mobility

Hello

I desperately need to find out whether I will lose my transitional protection when moved over to universal credit if I claim for pip mobility. I currently receive pip enhanced daily living component and I’m sure I’m entitled to pip mobility also. My halfway review is due in September but I’m scared if I apply for mobility component, that I will be asked to apply for universal credit and lose my transitional protection such as severe disability premium etc. I don’t know what to do because currently i am not on universal credit. I asked the Citizens Advice Bureau and they advised me not to do anything until I find out whether I will lose my transitional protection. Can somebody please give me some advice. I don’t know what to do, it is so confusing. I thought Pip was exempt and not a means tested benefit so it shouldn’t affect universal credit or trigger a change in circumstances???

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explain where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

I can't think why the CAB would have said this to you! :(

PIP is not one of the benefits that comes under the UC umbrella, asking for your PIP claim to be reassessed will not result in your being asked to claim UC.

Be aware though that notifying the DWP of a Change will result in a full reassessment of your claim, a new PIP2 and almost certainly a face to face assessment, the new Decision will supersede your existing award, whatever it is.
