Support Group Puzzle was created by Rachel Black
Hi, I wonder if anyone has any thoughts on this. I went for my ESA assessment in April. I told the assessor that nothing had changed except that I had recently been diagnosed as autistic and having adhd. The actual assessment only lasted about 20 minutes whereas others had taken much longer. The result came through the post and I was told I was in the Wrag group as I had been before so nothing had changed. However, a week later I got another letter saying that I had been put in the Support group! No reason was given. Bit puzzling so I rang and asked for my report. When it came there was no mention at all that I had told them about the autism and adhd which surprised me as I had thought that might be the reason they had changed me over to the support group. Now I don't know what to do. I don't want to rock the boat but I don't understand how the autism wasn't mentioned and they changed me over. Any ideas or thoughts appreciated.

Did the assessment report recommend the Support Group? There should be a list of D
Descriptors you met, the codes are listed in the WCA Handbook, there is a copy in the ESA section?

The assessment report said that I should continue in the wrag group and be re-assessed in the median time. There were no descriptors listed. It seemed like a very short report tbh.

There has to be a list of Descriptors you met, the WRAG is points based so the report has to show how scored sufficiently for an award.

Thanks for the reply, you brought up some questions for me so I had a root through my old assessment reports and yes, on the old one, all the descriptors are there and the points and a recommendation for the wrag group. The old report is 38 pages long. This new one is only 7 pages long and there is the recommendation for the wrag group, a few bits on my medical history and the typical day for me but nothing at all about what descriptors I met and nothing telling me what points I got. After the assessment I got the letter saying I was in the wrag group and then 5 days later I got one saying I'd been moved to the support group and that's why I sent for the report as I was quite puzzled. After looking at the old report and new one , I'm even more puzzled tbh.

Did you qualify through the Substantial Risk Regulations?
Failing that you can ask the DWP to explain how the Decision was reached and specifically which Descriptors you met.
