I was just wondering if there is any background information as to why PIP is paid from the date the decision is made and not from the date the application is made?

Were you being transferred to PIP from DLA? If you were the legislation that details how this should be done does not allow back payment of the PIP award, if this was a new claim then it should apply from the date you made the claim providing you meet the requirement for having suffered from your current limitations for at least three months.

It is a tranfer from indefinatly DLA mobility only and now PIP enhanced mobility and low care. It seems unfair as this need has not just started on the date the award was made and it is an inconsistancy within the same award!

I'm afraid this has been challenged at the Upper Tier Tribunal and was held to be lawful.
