TOPIC: Eating disorder

Eating disorder 4 days 23 hours ago #217749

Hello
I am sorry if this has been asked before. I am not very good at searching the pages :-(.
I am just about to request the PIP form for completion. This will be the third time I have done so and then lost the energy to fill it in. I am struggling because I have three main medical conditions which make sit hard to know what to put and what to fill into the diary. Some days I am not sure what medical condition causes which problem. I have CFS and also anxiety/depression/OCD. But I have an eating disorder too and it is particularly that one which I find hard to fit into the statements.
Can anybody help?
Kind regards

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

To some extent, it will depend on the eating disorder(s) but the two activities this falls under are Preparing and Cooking a Meal and Taking Nutrition.

Preparing a meal is about selecting appropriate ingredients so if you binge eat then I would make most of your arguments here. Taking Nutrition is about eating so if you have Anorexia then I would detail it here but it is worth mentioning your problems in both.

You need to complete these activities "reliably" and on the "majority of days" so if there are other aspects to your conditions then they may come under these heading, so for example, if you have rituals associated with these activities then you these may mean that you cannot complete them within a reasonable time or perhaps to a necessary standard, you may even be able to argue that they could cause you harm.

You are going to need to provide medical evidence to support any such issues.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

The pip questions really are hard to answer for an eating disorder- or trying to explain stuff. I was told I could only score 2 and 4 points for the preparing food/ eating because higher scores are meant for people on feeding tubes.

Hi there. I just want to let you know that yesterday I went from 0 points to 15 points at a tribunal for an eating disorder and OCD. If you need any advice then I’d be happy to help :)

Thank you both so much for the replies. They are incredibly helpful. I feel a bit clearer of how to complete now
Kind regards
