UC is not yet in our catchment area

UC is not yet in our catchment area (SE27) but I was on ESA support Group, I let my partner move in with me and she has applied for Job Seekers but they put her on UC, they have now stopped my ESA benefits and told me to make a joint claim with my partner on UC. Is this right? Can they do this even though it has not been rolled out in our area yet? thanks.

It's difficult to check as you need the full postcode but the UC Postcode Checker is showing at least part of SE27 as being a UC Full Service area.

ucpostcode.entitledto.co.uk/ucdate

If your postcode is a Full Service area then your partner claiming UC will trigger a migration of any Income Related ESA to their UC claim,

If your postcode is not a Full Service then your partner should not have been able to claim UC only legacy benefits such as JSA, however, it sounds as if they would have made a claim for Income Related JSA and you would have had the same problem as only one person in a couple can claim an IR benefit.
