PIP Claim form was created by CAP
Hi guys,
I'm a newbie on here so still trying to find my way around the site .I've just read all the pages on how to fill in the form & find it quite mind numbing ,but I've got until 18th of this month to complete & return my claim form.I know everyone's circumstances are different ,but am wondering if anyone knows if having CRPS in my foot / lower leg & potentially spreading up my leg gives me any fighting chance of getting PIP. The pain specialist that I'm under has given me an information leaflet to show to medical professionals who might not know what CRPS is and I have come across some already who have not heard of it.
I applied for a blue badge a few weeks ago as my mobility is getting worse and seriously did not expect to be successful in getting one.I had to go for an assessment and the assessor admitted that she hadn't heard of CRPS so after watching me walk a short distance and asking a few questions and reading the information leaflet that I took with me ,she told me that I was entitled to a blue badge. Something tells me that a PIP assessment will be totally different & I haven't even started to fill the form in yet.

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

PIP is not about your conditions but the limitations that result from them so it's really not possible to say whether you would qualify for an award or not.

You need to work back from each of the Descriptors to see if you meet them, so as an example; I need to use an aid to prepare and cook a meal, this is because I cannot stand due to my CRPS.

Remember all of the PIP activities must be done reliably and on the majority of days, these terms are defined in the PIP Claim guide.

If you have any further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

Hi All,
Still filling in my PIP form it's doing my head in ,but it needs to get sorted soon as it has to be back by the 16th .I thought it was 18th. Anyway , I've a few things that I could do with a bit of help with please if anyone can help?.
I've already been awarded a blue badge without having PIP. Should I put this on my PIP form & if so where should I include that.
The other thing is on the dressing / undressing section. I don't necessarily need help getting dressed undressed, but I could be deemed as not wearing appropriate clothing for going outside if that makes sense. Whatever the weather , rain ,snow, anything , I always where shorts and sandals as due to my CRPS I can't tolerate anything across the top of my foot & also can't stand anything touching / rubbing on the lower part of my leg. Also when I'm in the house I don't even have a shirt on as I sweat ridiculously and end up with wet sweaty clothes, so just don't bother wearing anything on my top half unless I have to go out anywhere. Is there anywhere that I should include that for any benefit towards my PIP claim please.
Thank You

You can request a two-week extension to the return date if you need it, phone the number on the letter that accompanied the form.

I would include the information about your Blue Badge under Moving Around.

I think you will struggle to score for the issues you mention in regard to Dressing and Undressing, Descriptor

b.(ii) prompting or assistance to be able to select appropriate clothing.

goes some way towards it but there is nothing in the Descriptor that requires specific consideration of inside versus outdoor clothing, you also have the issue of the majority of days and whether your wearing of shorts would be a problem for this period.

I would certainly make the argument, you have nothing to lose by doing so, but I would not rely on the points.

Thanks Gorden,
I wear shorts & sandals 365 days a year ,whatever the weather as I can't comfortably wear anything else. I'll write it in as I've got nothing to lose.
My memory is absolutely shot. The medication that I'm on is what I assumed was responsible although I've recently read that CRPS can effect short term memory, but I've not got anything in writing from a specialist to confirm this but I have asked if they can confirm it ,although I wont hold my breath waiting.
I think I will request a 2 week extension as at the moment I haven't wrote anything on the form , it's all on scrap paper with lots of scribbling out although I'm sure the form itself will end up looking just as bad.

Thanks for the previous replies.
Reading through the form again last night & Q15 it says that family members can provide additional information. Is there any benefit to this?
My wife will be coming with me when I go to the assessment so hopefully she will have the opportunity to speak there or would it be better putting something in writing?
I am definitely going to ring up this morning to ask for more time to submit the form.
