ESA CONTRIBUTIONS BASED QUERY was created by Mazza
Hi, I’ve got a query please regarding my contributions based ESA (support group).
The DWP repeatedly sends letters requesting information about my husband’s pension etc.
Over the years, I’ve rung them and told them this information isn’t relevant and they’ve agreed. But then I get another batch of envelopes with the same requests! I’ve sent them back with
“Contributions based” written across them. But 6months later...... ore of the same.
Please can you advise - Do they actually need this info if I’ve paid NI all my working life?

My guess is that your husband's pension is paid into an account with your name on it and it is this that is causing the six monthly inquiry.

It's your claim for ESA(CB) and your husband's pension cannot have any effect on it but I doubt you will be able to stop the DWP contacting you again.

Yes, we do share a bank account.
So, just to clarify, there’s no time limit to my contribution based ESA?
It doesn’t become income based after a period of time?

While you remain in the Support Group then there is no limit to the time that you can receive ESA(CB).

If you are moved out of the SG then you have 365 days of continued payments, if this would be your first time out of the SG then you will have the full 365 days if you have had previous time out of the SG then it will be deducted from the time.
