PIP and National Insurance was created by BPWagstaff
Hello all,
I would like to ask , if you are on high rate DLA or PIP and unable to work, are National Insurance Contributions to be paid out the named benifits above or are you eligible for them due to the above benefits.

Thanks

Neither DLA nor PIP credit the claimant With NI Contributions you need to be receiving an Income Replacement benefit such as ESA or UC to receive these.

Dear Gorden,
Thankyou for that.
Would the process of ESA be as difficult as PiP?
I have never thought of claiming ESA or even If I can. I now have a shortfall in (NIC) National Insurance Contributions.
They are asking me if I will pay voluntary contributions .
My Carer/ partner thankfully is eligable for NIC.
My Carer does not want us to be put through the dwp mill as it did alot of harm.
Thanks for any help
Baza.

It depends on how well you meet the criteria but the process is identical to PIP.

Has your area gone to UC yet? if it has then you cannot claim ESA, only UC.

Be aware you can be asked to do what is called Work Related Activity as a condition of your receiving your ESA or UC.

Gorden,
Yes the area has gone to UC I believe.
As PiP is not eligable for NIC contributions then I dont know what to do.
Is there a downside to asking to be transfered to UC ?
Cheers

UC is not a replacement for PIP, this would be a new claim for a new benefit, your PIP award would remain in place and in payment!

Re the UC, have a look at the following
