IN THE SUPPORT GROUP AND JUST RE CFB FORM ESA was created by Wi
Hi
I was looking for some advice. I have just received a capability for work questionnaire from DWP. I was placed in the SUPPORT group following my FF2 with CAPITA for PIP receiving higher rate mobility and standard care. I had a stroke 15 years ago and was retired through ill health. If I am not mistaken I believe I still qualify for ESA benefits as I receive CB based ESA at present. I also recently qualified for my private pension - lump sum plus monthly allowance. Should my wife call the JOBCENTRE to ask why we need to fill in the form. A bit confused?

Whilst ESA is an indefinite award all claims are reassessed on a regular basis, the normal maximum period for claimants in the SG is three years.
This is a full reassessment of your claim and you must complete it in detail and supply evidence as you can in support, even if you have previously supplied it. Please use our ESA Claim guides to help you with the form.

Have you told the DWP about your pension, whilst ESA(CB) is not "means tested", pension income can reduce your payments?

My pension provider states that they contacted the DWP with the details so they can give me my correct tax code. I had my F2F in Feb 2016 which gave me 5years in the Support Group. I just find this system is asking people who worked for years and through no fault of their own have to go through the embarrassment of trying to claim their rightful benefits. I cannot write due tremor in my affected side and will just be repeating what I sent to them 5 years ago. Due to my age my condition will only deteriate through time. Anyway rant over - thanks for listening

There have been changes to the DWP guidance since you were last assessed, it may be OK to use the content from your last form but you really need to confirm that it is still applicable.
You need to contact the DWP yourself, you cannot rely on your pension provider to have done it for you.

Please forgive me Wi for hijacking this. I am anxious to know about this income (pension).

I inherited pension from late husband, would that affect my ESA (CB)?
Do I need to inform DWP?
For your information Wi, I had to complete a ESA form after three years and DLA support group, same longterm situation as you but not stroke, I used the old ESA info but added new symptoms which have surfaced as time goes by. But unknown to me, the DWP wrote to doctor to ask for medical evidence. it was obviously accepted as am still on ESA. Hope this helps. Evelyn
