Is it true that DWP do not give extensions for the return of this form? I cannot fill it out without help and by the time I get it, it will be pushing it to get it there on time.

Getting the up-to-date evidence letters in time, to put in with the form, is also going to be a miracle.

I'm currently in Support Group ESA.

Glad you're there for us - thank you.

I'm afraid the ESA legislation does not allow any extension to the time given to complete the ESA50, if the form is not received back on time then you risk your claim being suspended at the least. It is better to return an incomplete form and provide the remaining information later than to risk it being late.

What I was wanting to post on the forum is, how much do people pay to get a medical evidence letter from the GP. I also wondered: do GPs get training on benefits criteria etc - or do we have to explain it :( ? Thank you.

Members have reported paying up to £50 for a letter or report,

GPs are not trained in benefits, I'm afraid many actively avoid knowing too much.

I think there may be an error on Page 26 of the Benefits&Work ESA Guide. It says that Descriptor 8. (Bladder & Bowel), and Descriptor 15., and 16.(Eating & Drinking) , are listed as areas that could qualify for the Support Group. However, the numbering of these Descriptors do not match the form.

It is Descriptor 9 that relates to Bladder & Bowel and Descriptor 18 that relates to Eating & Drinking) on the Capability for Work form that I have.

I don't know if I have got this right or I'm confused or I've got the wrong form!

You are looking at a list of the SG Descriptors as defined in the legislation, not the questions that are on the ESA50 :)
