Carers Allowance Stopped

I’m in receipt of ESA & PIP and my husband is my carer. In Oct they asked him to send in up to date accounts for his business - he works a few hours each week as self employed - he sent them in within a few days and well within their timescale. His pay is well below that which they allow. Last Monday, with no warning at all, they didn’t pay him and when he phoned they said they always withhold payments whilst reviewing cases. Is this correct? The woman on the phone said the review may take s couple of weeks.

Thank you Gordon for your prompt reply. I can see it does make sense not to risk an overpayment, but it would have been less stressful if they had advised us of this possibility in the request for information letter. We’ll be keeping our fingers crossed until we hear.

Would anyone know how long a financial assessment for Carers Allowance takes? It’s been three weeks without our Carers Allowance money now. Every time my husband phones them they say it is with the decision maker and we should phone back in a few days. My husband asked today if it could take as long as three months and he was told it could, but they have absolutely no idea!
