I'm sorry about the topic sometimes it is very difficult to move these posts to their own topic.

I'm afraid you are not going to get a home assessment without an up to date and unambiguous medical statement of the problems you would have with attending at their offices. Have you phoned your GP Surgery to see if your doctor would produce such a letter?

I'm afraid your attending on your own is going to undermine what you have written on your form, is there no one who could attend go with you, a friend or a relative, they don't have to be in the interview with you?

Yes luckily I have somebody who is willing to attend but it will still be very difficult. The horror stories iv heard aren't helping helping the matter as Id be much more calm knowing that i was getting a fair and accurate assessment from a mental health professional than a physio with only 7 days training in mental health.

What i did wonder about was exceptional circumstances. If i scored 0 points on he assessment would exceptional circumstances sill override the decision as far as the DWP are concerned.

Be careful of reading too much into the posts here and indeed on other forums, you are only seeing those from claimants who are having problems, I'm not suggesting that there are not serious problems with the current system but the reality is that the majority of claims are processed without problem and those being assessed receive the award the should.

You do not need to score any points to receive an award via the Substantial Risk Regulations but you will need up to date evidence to support your meeting these as there is no on-going assumption of disability as there is with the Descriptors.
