out of the blue medical assessment was created by barrycgreen
Hi all,
I have received a letter for an appointment to have a assessment in relation to my benefit claim out of the blue.
my last claim form for ESA was filled out in July 2017 and I have continued to receive it from then this was a renewal claim and Im in the support group, I never received anything back from that claim so presumed all was good, so the assessment appointment was a shock, I've not had one for years (lucky I know) I have multiple physical and mental health problems,
what I want to know is is this normal do the DWP send out random assessments as a matter of course or will this be to do with my last claim form back in July 2017 ? (surely not after this long) I will ring the DWP when I can my anxiety prevents me, I also receive DLA permanent award.

I hope I've provided enough information for an answer
thanks
Barry

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ

My full name is showing, how can I stop it?

Although the vast majority of ESA assessments have an ESA50 issued it is not a legal requirement but it would be unusual for someone to have a face to face assessment and not receive an ESA50.

If there is time then you can complete an ESA50 and submit to the assessment centre or at least take a copy to the interview. You can download a copy from the following link

www.gov.uk/government/publications/capab...r-work-questionnaire

Failing that you could write a letter explaining your current problems with completing the ESA activities.

See our ESA Claim guide to understand the criteria that you are being assessed against

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.
