Gordon, theres a lot of fear about talking to the DWP, I think you know that to well being a moderator n this board.
I was only asking for advice from you, not an earful. It seems your advice in most cases is just to talk to the DWP, which to be frank is not really helpful when fear is a major factor.

Hi I totally understand how difficult it is to complete forms when you feel poorly yourself and your sons health. I have been in these positions myself. I would advice to check with your Local Citizens advice -CAB They can check through your sons benefit situation and the recent form sent. They can also complete forms in certain situations like yours and yours sons. Also check as in a lot areas you can book to see a CAB adviser at your local GP practise and you can also request home visits. Check with your GP practice or your sons GP`s to see if the CAB Advisor goes into the practice and what days. Or check direct with CAB - If you do not have a number for the CAB you can find it on www.citizensadvice.co.uk
I also know from past experience I rang the telephone number on the form explaining I was very poorly and my partner, they actually gave a extension of 6 weeks to return the form. If you do that though write down the date you rang, whom you spoke to and the extension date given.
Another option is on the Form there is usually a helpline number where they will ring back and complete the form for you over the telephone. But you would need all the information to hand. Not sure if you would need your son with you to.
Although we are all blessed to have the benefit and work website and the guides are very helpful. Also all the moderators like Gordon do a fantastic job and are very knowledgeable, understanding and helpful. In your situation I believe it would be best to see or speak to someone like the CAB Advisor and hep completing the forms as when I have been to unwell to do mine or my partners they can advise on individual circumstances and also do a benefit check and advice on entitlement to your own personal situations..
Hopefully with all the wonderful advice and guides benefit and work provide and also other forum members advice from their own experience will help on making the best decision for your situation.
Wishing you all the best for happier healing times ahead.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

If I say to contact the DWP then I do so because they are the only ones that can help with a situation and yes I have first-hand knowledge of the fear of having to contact the DWP.
If your son is eligible for the ESA(IR) payment then he may be owed £1000s of missed benefit bu the DWP will only wait so long before they write off the review because you have not responded. You say you are too ill to respond at the moment so you need to make them aware of this so that they give you more time to either deal with the matter yourself or to find someone who can.
