Tribunal appearance. was created by Rupert Godber
Hi. I had been through the mandatory appeal to a DWP decision writing a multi paged letter but was still turned down. I was told that I could have a tribunal hearing which caused me more stress.
The day comes and my daughter picks me up and comes with me into the court building. We are taken into a room and the procedure is explained to us by a very nice clerk of the court. Eventually, we go into the courtroom where 3 people are seated opposite to where my daughter and I are offered seats. Seated alongside me is a lady who is introduced as the DWP representative. I am so nervous at this point.
The main judge then goes through what will happen, so by now we are about 15 minutes in. Then the DWP lady says that they are now allowing to claim!!!
What a farce. When allowed to do so, I asked as to why this had gone as far as this total waste of every bodies time as this decision could have been given in a phonecalls or a letter to free up the already overworked tribunal for a case that the DWP wanted to challenge! The 3 people on the tribunal panel all agreed and said that this was happening more often than you would believe.
My advise to ALL claimants is to go all the way if you think you have a case, as even though the whole thing was super stressful, it would appear that the DWP are sending people to Tribunals hoping that the claimants will back down!
