Retirement this year and still on DLA was created by jed_marie@hotmail.com
Advice please , what happens to person still on dla low care and due to retire soon this year with state pension due 6months later. Does this mean they would only qualify for new PIP care element or can they claim and get mobility pip too? Would they be better asking to transfer to pip now or wait until invited? Thanks

The PIP Transfer legislation allows claimants to receive both components of PIP when they are invited to claim it.

The criteria for PIP is very different from DLA so I can't really advise whether it is better for you to ask to move to PIP now or wait until you are invited. If you think that you will reasonably receive a higher award under PIP then it may worth your moving now, if not, then maybe wait.

Our PIP Claim guide has details of the criteria you will need to meet.
