ESA Decision Confusion was created by MattS91
Hello B&W forum

In April 2018 I was accepted for a home visit by the CHDA medical team. I finally had that re-assessment last week(been in the Support Group since 2014). I requested the assessment to be recorded which it was and after the recording had finished I asked the HCP what she thought would happen and she told me she'd make a very strong report for me(its the same HCP who did my original first home visit assessment back in 2014)

I contacted the DWP on Monday this week to request the medical report from the assessment and was told it wasn't allowed until a decision has been made. So today I phoned up and asked if they had received my file back from the CHDA and they confirmed that my file had been passed on a DM. I informed the lady on the DWP helpline that I was struggling mentally with the wait for a decision and it was increasing my mental health problems. She briefly put me on hold and came back about 5 minutes later stating that she'd contacted the benefits office and spoke with a DM who confirmed that I had PASSED the medical but a decision on points/group hasn't been made yet. The lady today said that she has posted my medical assessment report for me as that might help calm my nerves and help me alittle.

Sorry for the long post... Is this normal to be told you've passed the medical and won't be taken off ESA? But they don't know what group you will be put in. I'm hoping me contacting them every few days isn't going to negatively impact on the decision I can't just sit and wait for weeks for a letter to appear in the post.

No, it is not usual, staff in the call centre are not supposed to disclose the result of an assessment unless the associated Decision Letter has been posted.

Your contacting them is not going to have any effect on the Decision.

The HCP stating she will make a very strong report for me makes me want to believe I will just stay in the Support Group, as the report she made in 2014 was pretty much spot on accurate wise. Suprised how since Monday when I phoned they flat out refused to send the medical report yet today no problems

The assessor shouldn't have said anything either.

My guess is that a Decision has been made, this does show on the screens that the call centre staff see but the Decision Letter is not flagged as having been sent.
