Hi, i am thinking of moving within my same local authority, and wasn't sure if i would be put on UC, i spoke to a lady at my local council and she said no, but she was still a bit unsure, so i double checked with u and u said no also. I have now bid on the property and have been shortlisted, but the site u have to go on says " as from Sept 2018 we will require 4 weeks rent in advance, because of the UC system.". My concern is that if my HB goes onto UC does that mean my IR ESA does too and will i lose my SDP. I'm desperate to move because of health issues , but losing my SDP is a big hit. Any advice welcome pls. Many thanks.
Moving in the same Local Authority when you already receive Housing Benefit would not have resulted in your having to claim UC but new legislation was introduced last week which means that you cannot claim UC if you are in receipt of the Severe Disability Premium, so even if you move to a new LA you cannot be required to claim UC.
