DLA appeal was created by pollyanna
After 20 yrs on DLA higher rate, and middle rate care since 2006, my husband has had his claim "looked at again", and has been refused any DLA except for the lower rate care. I am now trying to complete the reasons why we disagree with the decision.
The decision states "he can walk over 100 mtrs, slowly in a reasonable manner", on the original questionaire we put that he was in severe discomfort before he starts to walk and sometimes walked very slow. How can I word the response so that they understand that "he cannot walk any distance without being in pain/discomfort", because up to now they don't seem to take that on board.

We cannot advise on individual cases, however as a generality, I think that it would help not simply to state that he cannot walk over 100 metres, but to be specific about how far he can walk, in what level of pain and/or discomfort, perhaps explaining why he is in pain/discomfort (for example, does he have a lung problem, severe arthritis or whatever). You might want to see what medical evidence you have to back this up. It is not the diagnosis that matters, however.
