It can be done but costs the VC5 has to be changed and the VC5 class to PLG from disabled too this costs £25 also the DLA 404 Disabled Tax Exemption certificate sent back to Blackpool cost was £25 ish could have gone up now

But soon as you park away from home you might be spotted by blue disk in car unless thats going back too ?

Hi Dave,

Are your comments relating to WPMS, or DLA, with regard to the £25 fee?.

cheers

I thought £25 use to be the charge when a car with free tax disc was no longer being used by a person who is disabled be it DLA or WP this would be none diisability car but one where the registered class has been changed from disabled to private goods light or PLG

this would happen when someone dies and the car is going back to normal use

just looked into it and that was not charged for change of group but for change of plates as myself and all other ex forces use to use own plates

 thats now £80 direct :)

Thanks for your admission of an error here Dave.

I totally understand that you are trying to help, but you must realise how potentially damaging errant information can be to members who have little knowledge about the subject that they are posting about.

As a new Mod, I try and stick to answering things that I am sure about, if I'm not sure, then I will leave it to one of the other Mods.

As I have said I understand that you are offering opinions with the best of intentions, but please be careful about the advice that you give.

Best wishes

I posted what I was charged and others both wp and dla motobility where charged. I was told what i posted as where others by motobility

i think i still have the letter, from motobility where they say the charge is for BOTh change of plates and groups from disabled to PLG if motobility are both giving out wrong information and charging for things they should not charge I will be taking this up with them as I have paid twice for this service

if pete is saying its wrong i and others have been charged

i want a refund :)

as the information was given to me written and NOT by DWP how should i think anything other than its correct ?

ps number plates ex forces want are often from cornwall as they seem to use to get RAF and CPL SGT is from somewhere else

Sorry Dave,

Road tax exemption has nothing to do with Motability, it is administered by the DLA Unit in Blackpool, and the Tax Disc is issued by the DVLA.

Also changing plates has nothing to do with Road Tax Exemption, or indeed a Disabled Tax Disc, which was the subject of the thread by the OP.

cheers
