Work for You pink leaflet was created by susan5050
Hi all
* I have received a pink leaflet headed Work for You from the jobcentre, inviting me to participate if I wish, and definitely reading as though its not a compulsory procedure. Also at the bottom of the leaflet it has printed MAKE IT WORK FOR YOU.
*However, there was also a card attached from the jobcentreplus with details of an appointment already made for me with what states is my personal adviser, and a warning that if I do not attend a mandatory appointment my benefits may be stopped.
*There is nothing to tell me if this a mandatory appointment or not.
a) On the side of the jobcentre card there is information advising me that if I cannot attend I should let the personal adviser know.
However, under that there is also a warning that if I do not have good reason to attend a mandatory interview my benefit could be
stopped.
b) It then has a sentence that says adviser should delete as appropriate-but nothing has been deleted!

*Don't know what ESA group I am in, I received my transfer from I.B. letter the beginning of September then the DWP phone call 2wks later, but to date still no ESA 50 form.
I assumed (always wrong to assume) that the ESA 50 form was going no further as perhaps a decision had been made to place me in the support group on the supporting evidence form filled out at the request of the DWP by my G.P.after the letter about the I.B. migration, and that also because the I.I.B award involved an ATOS medical approx 2 months prior to letter about I.B. migration, both were awarded indefinitely.

Like many others on here my illness, and also from previous experience of communication with the jobcentre contact with them makes me very ill. Due to cutbacks I have no support from any organization who can act on my behalf. I can however, ask a family member to contact them for me if need be, but even having to do that sets all my health issues into a total downward spiral as I need to be clear in what I need the family member to ask/explain on my behalf.
*Any advice on what I should do, or ask my relative to clarify with the jobcentre about the Work for You appointment would be very much appreciated?
I definitely cannot attend due to health reasons.
*Thank goodness I had an appointment with my G.P.already arranged, but unfortunately not until after this interview is to take place. It is impossible for me to see my regular G.P. without a very early pre-booking of appointment.
He has always agreed that any work interviews will be very detrimental to my health, and in the past has written to the DWP advising them of this. He said he would support me again if required, and I wonder if there is anything specific that I could ask him to do that may convey to the jobcentre that sending me unclear information and just suddenly sending me an interview date for an appointment such as this makes me so ill.

Finally, I do appreciate that I am not alone in the way I am being treated with total disregard for the complexities of my health problems by people with no medical knowledge. My apologies therefore, for the long post all about me but hope any advice given to me can help others on this site if they come across this Work for You????

Hi Michelle

As usual JCP are sending out confusing and contradictory letters. I can only speculate from the extract of the letter; it may be that the scheme is voluntary but the initial appointment is mandatory. In any case, if they say that your benefit may be stopped if you do not attend the appointment, it sounds as though the appointment is mandatory.

I would suggest that you ask your family member to phone on your behalf to clarify that the appointment is mandatory and perhaps explain that attending would be detrimental to your health, but there is no guarantee that they will agree.

Good luck

Derek

Hi M3434,

Firstly have you received any written notification that you have been awarded ESA?

If not then you have not finished the IB to ESA migration process.

In other words you are still in receipt of IB, and governed by the same rules as you where before the migration process started.

Secondly, it may be reason for concern that you have not yet received your ESA50, over 8 weeks after you received your IB to ESA migration letter.

If this has been lost in the post, it is now around the time that you would of had to return it.

Therefore it would be advisable to make contact with DWP/ATOS ASAP to enquire where your ESA50 is.

Although theorectically a claimant can be assessed in the ESA WCA without an ESA50 being issued, this is highly unlikely, and as I have said, if you had gone through the WCA process, and a decision on your ESA award had been made, you would have received written notification.

I am sorry that I have not touched on the JCP leaflet etc, but I feel that the issues I have mentioned have more importance at this time.

Thank you both for your very promt, and very full explanations.

I do hope that this also helps anyone else who gets this leaflet. As I previously wrote I can find no information on it at all. I am wondering only from my own conclusions if it is something that perhaps replaces the condition managment programme. Would be good to hear if anyone else has received it?

It is very concerning that on the attached jobcentre information card I have been sent with the leaflet the adviser has failed to score out what section applies regards being mandatory with benefit sanctions for non attendance,or not!

I shall also now definately attend to the fact that I have no migration form, and thanks for pointing out that I should receive a letter once placed in a group.

Many thanks

Hi M3434,

I would strongly advise that you sort out the issue of non receipt of an ESA50.

Further, until you have received notification from the DWP ESA Decision Maker that you have been awarded ESA, then you may well still be in receipt of IB.

Do you know for certain that DWP/ATOS have sent your G.P. an ESA113 to fill out, in connection with your ESA WCA?

Hi bro58

I am definately still in receipt of I.B.

My G.P. was sent out a form to fill in about my DLA appeal (which was successful as I posted thanks to the support of this site).

I never thought to ask him what the form was called I could find out though I suppose by calling the surgery?

Thanks
