Should I have been informed was created by bluejay52
Hello everyone.
Last year I returned my appeal to Sunderland after finding myself in the wrong group (WRAG instead of Support Group).
It then went to Leeds (for some reason)?
I rang 6 weeks ago to see what was happening and they couldnt tell me.
Afterward I was contacted by my local CAB to see if I had heard anything.(They took my case on)
Surely the DWP has the good manners to tell me the position eiether they cannot reverse the original decision -or its going to a tribunal-or am I asking too much too soon?
Thank You.

The DWP are supposed to acknowledge a notice of appeal within two weeks, however, this seems to have slipped recently, presumably due to the overloading of most DWP offices due to the IB/SDA/IS Transfer process.

There is no timescale for the DWP to carry out a Reconsideration, although the average has been around 7 weeks.

The move of your file to Leeds is likely the result of your local office being to busy.

Unfortunately, there is no leverage that can be brought to bear, with the exception of involving your MP, so there is nothing you can really do except to keep contacting them.

Hi BJ52,

As you may know, once a claimant appeals an adverse decision, it will receive an automatic reconsideration, by a different DWP DM.

This can take upto 12 weeks, and the DWP do seem to be gridlocked at this time.

If the decision is not changed at reconsideration stage, you will be informed, and your appeal will then be sent forward to the Appeals Tribunal Service.

Your only option is to chase your appeal up with the DWP, to see how the situation stands.

You could make a complaint, see :
