DLA and work

Wonder if you can advice me with my dilemma.
I was put into the WRAG part of ESA and my payments are to stop in July this year. However they did not inform me until Dec, so thought I had better try to get a job.
Took extra pain relief for interview and put 6cm raises in my left boot for interview and assessment and surprisingly got the job, due to start next month.
Trouble is in the mean time my DLA has been renewed till July 2015. Received that letter today.
Please could you tell me whether I could work whilst receiving DLA as not sure if I can sustain this employment due to mobility probs and pain. I do not want to lose all benefits and just assumed that my DLA would not be continued because my ESA was not to be continued. Really don't know what to say when I contact the DWP or which department to contact first.
Thank you

Hi l2920,
DLA is an "in work" allowance, therefore you can work whilst in receipt of DLA.
The important issue here is, are any of the duties involved with your work in direct conflict with the reasons that you were awarded DLA ?
If The DLA Unit are not aware that you are starting work, then as it would be classed as a change in circumstances, you should inform them.
With regards to ESA, you should inform them also if they are not aware.
I believe that they have Disability Advisers at The Job Centre Plus, who may be able to help you here.
An ESA decision generally only has an adverse effect on a DLA award, where there has been a fit for work decision made, not WRAG.
Even though you may initially choose to inform the DWP by telephone, or in person, I would back up this information regarding a change in your circumstances, in writing, to create a paper trail.
See : Sending Documents to the DWP or ATOS
