DLA HRM reduced to nothing on renewal was created by LyndaRayleigh
Devastated.... so depressed now, can't stop crying. Higher rate mobility reduced to nothing on say so of ATOS doctor despite me being in electric wheelchair at appointment. Not being able to do half of what he asked. Decision given 4 days before current award expires so now loosing car via motability as appeal won't be heard in time. Doesn't just affect me but also kids as I will not be able to get kids about for their hospital appts etc

Said wait for letter to arrive it will explain how to appeal. Any help gratefully received.

I am so sorry to hear this, I can understand your distress :(

Firstly, you might find this helpful
Welcome to Benefits and Work

You will need to submit an appeal within one month of the date at the top of the decision letter - when it arrives. Spend the intervening time looking at our DLA and appeals guides so that you know what you want to say.

As you say, unfortunately you will have to return your vehicle to motability

Will I have to return my Motability car

Well motability knew officially before I did  and my car goes back to them come Tuesday :( . Today I have finally received the notification from DWP re the decision. And by return I am sending off recorded delivery the letter in your pack saying I intend to appeal, and also a separate letter asking for all information regarding my claim so far. :P

I like others here am determined to turn this around, despite my new episode of depression since all this began. Just one question, who would be the best kind of person to ask to be my representative in the appeal. My local CAB office only specialises in debt issues, and the other nearest office is 3 miles away with no public transport accessible by wheelchair to get there. It has also dawned on my that the termination of my HRM means that the disability premium on my ESA will no doubt be stopped too... completely unsure how I'm going to cope now as I will have to pay 30% of my council tax from March too.... I have no idea where I am going to find the money for all this and any taxi fares I might need to get to my hospital appts and the kids hospital appts.

Once I believed in the country and its social awareness, now I despair but trapped here as no other country would take me.

Try doing an internet search for "welfare advice" with you town or county.

There are no ESA premiums associated with HRM, they are both linked to the Care component.

In answer to your query,

There are potential sources of advice here :

Where to get advice?

If there are no available options there, you could try putting Welfare Rights/ Advice, and your Town or Postcode into your internet search engine.

Ideally, a qualified WRA/WRO would probably be your best option, as they are experienced in Benefit Appeals and Caselaw.

Some Solicitors Practices do have Welfare Rights Solicitors, however a WRA/WRO would be the preferred option.
