hi gordon,
i have just had a thought, now that my husband has been put in the SG what will happen with his DLA? he gets the mobility part at a higher rate at the moment and it was for an indefinate time. will he now have to fill in another form or have a medical for this? or do they look at the decision that was made for ESA? sorry about all the questions but i do appreciate it.

Hi j1,

DWP Decision Makers can use ESA Medical Reports to adversely review an existing DLA award.

However, we only generally see this, when a claimant has been found fit for work under The ESA WCA.

ESA has much stricter qualifying criteria, especially for "Mobilising" "Moving Around".

In ESA it is considered whether the claimant can Mobilise using a manual wheelchair unaided, as well as walking.

With DLA Mobility, it is simply a "Walking Test".

In fact, a positive ESA Medical Report, especially with an award of SG, can be helpful to a DLA claim.

Hi j1,

You can keep up with what is going on with PIP by accessing the 3 links below :

PIP Topic Thread in Spotlight Area

As your hubby seems to have an indefinite award of DLA, he should not expect to be invited to claim PIP until after October 2015.
