I submitted my first claim for pip and when I phoned them they told me they don't acknowledge receipt of claim packs but after a persuasive talk admitted that they had received it.
My question is (how long is a piece of string) on average how long does it take to get an assessment from first submitting.
Great sight with lots of information but unfortunately can not find the answer to this one.

I am afraid there is not enough clear information in the public domain to give any realistic timescales, but if pushed I would say around four months for most areas, whether this will reduce as the two providers ramp up their operations or increase due to DLA claimants being transferred is impossible to say at this time.

Hello,
I personally think it depends on the area where you live.
My mum rang for PIP 22 Nov;
Form sent back to DWP 20 Dec;
Appointment letter received from ATOS on 20 Jan,
F2F assessment 12 Feb.
I think that is a very fast turnaround.
Now the real wait starts.
Appointment was with/in an private physio consultation room
I personally think it depends on the area where you live.

Hi Gordon
I noticed on this post that my name still appears even though I changed it as in all my other ones ,can you arrange for this to be corrected.
I know about you all being short handed at the moment so there is no urgency.

I have just received my assessment letter (F2F) on the 26th March after submitting my first claim.
I phoned the 4th Dec 13 sent in the forms 20th Dec and now Atos appointment in April.
Just thought I would post this to give a little hope for all members asking how long.
Thanks for all the info because I think I am going to need as much as possible come the big day.
Will keep you posted on the outcome.
