PIP medical assessment was created by Eddie Patterson
My entitlement to DLA expires on 4/4/16. I completed the PIP application diligently using B&W guidance and yet have been called in to an assessment centre in 2 weeks. Am I just unlucky or is this the norm? Also what if the outcome goes past the date of entitlement and the Blue Badge date?

Anyone who has been through this and has experience similar or same I would welcome your advice and experience of such.

Hi 4squares and welcome to the forum. I see that you have already found our members' guides and am glad that you found them helpful.

As long as you have observed the time limits for submitting your PIP2 form, your DLA claim will continue until 4 weeks after a decision is made on your PIP claim, no matter how long this process takes or what the decision is. If your blue badge expires during this time you will need to reapply for it.

Towards the end of last year the PIP process has speeded up enormously and was taking only a few weeks - however, it seems to have gone back to the previous snails-pace now :(

If you have further questions or comments about your PIP claim, please reply to this message and we will do our best to help. It makes our lives very much easier if everything relating to one subject is kept in the same place. Thank you in advance for your co-operation in this matter :)

Thanks for that. I read on here that 98% of PIP claimants have to attend a medical assessment and if that is true it makes me feel slightly easier with the process. Are there any stats on outcomes relating to attending such assessments?

Hi 4s,

Yes, currently nearly all PIP assessments involve a face to face !!!

I am afraid that I am not aware of the existence of the statistics that you speak of !

You can read what to expect from around Page 69 of our : PIP Claims Guide. (2nd Link down the page)

The following may help further :

An insight into how the PIP Assessor fills in The PA4 Medical Report : Here.

The latest version of : The PIP Assessment Guide which was updated on 28th July 2015.

The return trip to/from the Centre should not take more than 90 minutes either way by Public Transport.

You should be aware that how you manage the return trip to/from the Centre will be taken into account as part of the actual assessment.

You may be observed on approaching, leaving and whilst inside the Centre.

Assumptions may be made by the assessor with regards to the above.

These assumptions could result in the assessor writing comments/recommendations within the PA4 Medical Report which they compile and send to The DWP.

You can have someone else to accompany you !

Good luck and please let us know how you got on !

You should Bookmark/Favourite this page in your Internet Browser now. That way you can return to this topic easily to pose any further queries that you may have by replying to the topic.

Thanks in anticipation of your future co-operation in keeping all your PIP related queries to this topic ! :)

Hi

I attend my medical on 15/3/16 and received a letter on 25/3/16 explaining my application is stil being processed and I will hear in due course. 3 weeks after that I rang the DWP as my blue badge was due to expire. I was told there is a massive backlog and my claim will be processed in due course. 7 weeks after my medical I am still awaiting a decision!

Is this normal and would you consider this a good or bad sign in relation to an award?

I'm afraid PIP Decisions are currently taking 8 weeks or more. It has no impact on the Decision they will eventually make.
