Dear PP, I wish you every luck with getting your pension and plus the pension credit.

You were so great when I was going through my horrid PIP stuff. I've often wondered about you since, and how you were doing.

Sending you cyber hugs, Maggie

Hello Gordon, So sorry to keep pestering you yet again about the same topic. I have now used two diff bens calculators and both say I am allowed pension credit, yay! Funny but neither mention the fact I am entitled to keep the SDP, so I braved it (phew!) and rang pensions and yes they confirm I will qualify for SDP once I am in receipt of pen cred, just as you said. So thanks for that I knew you would not be wrong and it gave me the courage to ring em up. I am aware that as I have a small amount of savings this will affect the level of pension credit I am entitled to and it showed the deduction on the bens calc. Could you kindly tell me if this would also reduce the amount of SDP. Here is a grossly exagerated example but if I was fortunate enough to have savings to bring the amount of pen cred down to say £10 would I still get the SDP? My SDP is £64+ at mo. Is it a case of the £64+ or nowt. I hope that makes sense, I know what I am tryin to ask but not sure I am goin about it the right way, ha! :)

I searched all over the shop for an answer to that question yesterday but couldn’t find one PP

PP

The SDP is paid as part of your ESA(IR) and would be paid as part of any Pension Credit payment, it is not a payment in its own right. So if your savings are going to reduce your PC then it will be the PC including the SDP that will be reduced.

However, your ESA(IR) must also be reduced by your savings! As the savings limit for ESA(IR) is £6000 and the one for PC is £10,000 you must be at least £16 a week (£10,000 - £6000 = £4000 / £250 = £16), better off and possibly more as the increments for further deductions are £500 for PC and £250 for ESA(IR).

On dear I realise Iv’e confused everything. At the moment I am not over the 6k limit with savings. When I retire in a few weeks time I will receive a small pension as a lump sum that will push me over the 10k limit. I know I will lose £1 for every £500 over the 10k and this will come off the pension credit, but will I also lose £1 off the SDP for each each £500 over the limit?

Still struggling to explain wot I mean ha! PP :)

Oh dear again, have just read ur last msg again and I think you are saying I will lose £1 for every £500, and ALL the SDP because I have gone over the limit
