Hello, I've sent the forms back two weeks ago but not heard anything yet. How do we get to record the assessment? is it possible?

Also I've been reading about how the assessors lie about what happens in the assessments. How do we get a copy of the assessment report if we need to get one?

I've got a bad feeling about all of this and was told yesterday by a CPN that they have tried to send one of his patients to leicester for the appointment and even sent him train timetables!

There is no way the BF and myself could get to Leicester what do we do if an assessment apt comes through with Leicester or Nottingham on it? Can we ask for a local one or a home assessment at that point?

Thanks.

Hi j,

You are able to record the PIP assessment (should you need one) as long as you get written permission from the assessment provider first. You will need to provide the equipment to make 2 identical recordings at the same time. 2 old-fashioned cassette recorders would be fine. Digital or video recordings are not allowed.

DWP usually send out the assessment reports on request without any problems. I suggest leaving it a couple of days after the assessment and then ring them (although we also suggest you follow this up in writing).

The claimant does not have to accept a venue that would take more than 90 minutes journey time (calculated by public transport). If the venue is nearer than this but still not good for you, you can ring and ask for it to be changed if their is a venue nearer to home. This would count as your one permitted change, so make sure you have your diary handy when you phone so that you can make sure the second appointment is convenient for you.

Home assessments can be very difficult to get, you would certainly need to back up your request with a letter from your GP explaining why you could not travel to an assessment centre. Even then, it could be refused.

My BF asked to be contacted by phone rather than letter and did get a text to say they have dreceived his PIP2 form. Will the appointment for an assessment be made by phone as well?

I hope so because he has been staying with me after an incident a couple of weeks ago when I had to call the police to look for him. If an appointment was sent by post and he has missed the assessment what can we do?

Also we have bought 2 cheap recorders will we be able to take them to an assessment centre our area is capita, I'm very confused by all of this.

The first appointment is usually generated by computer, with no reference to the PIP2 form - so (although it does happen sometimes) you certainly should not reply on it being made by phone!

You need to get permission, in writing, from Capita in advance, then you can take your recording devices to the assessment if one is needed.

How much notice do they give you in advance of an assessment? I'm just hoping he hasn't missed it.

Do you know how quickly the appointments are sent out? they got the form on 14th jan it had to be back by 16th jan.

thanks.

They will give seven days written notice although this includes postage time, the actual appointment can be anywhere from the seven days to typically 21 days. If a claimant fails to attend and has not notified in advance that they will not be then their file is returned to the DWP who will likely close the claim, although there is a right of appeal.

You need to contact the Assessment Provider as soon as possible and find out what is going on.
