Hi Sweetheart,

Whether there is a paperbased decision depends entirely on whether the assessor believes they have enough information to make a recommendation to DWP without seeing the claimant.

As far as an assessment at home, I'm afraid this is unlikely (but not impossible) without a GP letter of support.

Incidentally, members are finding it increasingly difficult to get letters of support from GPs these days, so you are certainly not alone :(

Sweetheart

A couple of months ago we were advising that assessment wait times were up at 12-16 weeks, we've had no feedback since them as to how waiting times have changed but even if they have improved then I would estimate that you are still looking at about 8 weeks before your husband's form is looked at.

Hi,

I'm in Northumberland. I sent my PIP forms off on the 18th September and received the assessment date letter on the 3rd October. My assessment is this Wednesday 11th.
I hope this gives you an idea of how soon you might expect to be assessed.
My appointment is at Hadrian House in Newcastle, it's not the nearest one to me but Ashington isn't accepting any appointments.

Best of luck x

Hi Murfy,

Thanks so much for your reply, wow that was quick!! do you mind me asking are you transferring from DLA to PIP, hubby has long term mental health issues and now pysical problems, he has been "parked" by medical professional's for MH problems and we didn't really have much new evidence we could send, but i followed the guides and tried to explain daily problems, but we did send up to date evidence re pysical problems, so we will have to wait and see. Wishing you the best of luck for Wednesday, stay strong although easier said than done.

Best Wishes x

Yeah it seemed pretty quick to me as well. This will be my first claim, although I've had mental health issues for 13 years I've never put in a claim for anything because I was too scared of the assessments.

I didn't really have much evidence - my doctor wouldn't write anything for me, and although I see a therapist she's not really allowed to write anything either. I sent a personal statement and both my parents wrote a letter too. I did the daily symptoms diary for a week, and got a print out of my medical notes. As that's all I have I'm going to really have to ace this medical.

The advice I'm taking is to go through the points chart, see which ones apply to me and make certain I let the assessor know that I can't do it.

Best of luck
