PIP2 "Extra information" box was created by crad2@hotmail.com
When filling in the PIP2 "extra information" box for each question, i have seen the following advice: The extra information boxes: "Referring to the descriptors, write in the
box for each question, which descriptor applies to you and explain why it applies"
Is it a good idea to list which descriptor i feel applies to me and explain why? or not put the descriptor down and just explain my difficulties with the activity.
Many thanks

Yes explain the Descriptor(s) that you think that you meet, don't leave it to the assessor or the DWP Decision Maker to decide without argument what points you should score.

If i were to put this:

Q3 Extra information - preparing Food

d/ Needs prompting to be able to either prepare or cook a simple meal. This applies 20% of the time
e/ Needs supervision or assistance to either prepare or cook a simple meal. This applies 40% of the time
Then explain my difficulties-

As the 2 descriptors add up to over 50% of time, would i therefore possibly score points for (e) 4 points, as this is the higher of the 2 descriptors?

Thank you

You don't explain why you believe that you meet the Descriptors.

Also, how are you for the 40% of the time that you do not account for, if you have no problem completing an activity then you do not state this but if you would still have restrictions, even if they do not specifically meet a Descriptor, then you should explain these problems.

Sorry, not making myself very clear. If i put the following:

Q3 Extra information - preparing Food

d/ Needs prompting to be able to either prepare or cook a simple meal. This applies 20% of the time
e/ Needs supervision or assistance to either prepare or cook a simple meal. This applies 40% of the time
Then explain my difficulties-
On my worse days i need supervision cooking due to lack of concentration and distracting thoughts due to severe anxiety. Not finishing tasks once started due to fatigue caused by ME/CFS this applies 40% of time.
On better days i can cook a simple meal in microwave but i need prompting due to lack of motivation because of depression. This applies 20% of the time

That will be much better, there is a formula for answering the questions in the PIP Claim guide, it might help if you try and follow this for each answer, providing a consistent format can help considerably in getting you case across.
