Capita Face to Face Home Visit was created by bubblebug
My husband has been sent a home visit appointment in 2 weeks time. He has RA and they must have concluded that a home visit is more appropriate.
Can anyone kindly confirm what to expect and are home visits the norm?
Thanks

A home assessment is not standard however it is not particularly unusual either.

The PIP Claim guide has a section covering the assessment and the questions your husband is likely to be asked.

My husband had his visit and it lasted for just under an hour. The Capita representative asked all the questions that were on the form. The rep was typing away and was very friendly & made my husband do some lifting of his arms and my husband couldn't do the majority of what what was asked of him. He was asked to stand and try to get on tip toes but again my husband couldn't do it as he suffering with pain in the balls of his feet and toes. It is difficult to ascertain what to make of everything as I know they can lull you into a false sense of security as the rep was sympathetic and said she understands how chronic and progressive RA is' and for my husband not too worry. When you hear them say that - I believe from my ESA experience that 'you should worry!' as what they say to you and what they write are two different things.

Since the forms were sent off my husband has been signed off work as the pains in his feet and ankles have got worse as he has literally been working 6 days a week. He is off with a RA flare up and anxiety. We did write down the additional information and update on his current condition but he said to send to DWP as Capita cant take it. I will send this off and have asked for the assessment report copy to be sent as well. We were advised that my husband show hear back within 4 weeks. Fingers crossed.

I chased DWP today to see whether they received the additional information and the request for the report. The advisor I spoke to said it hasn't been actioned yet and after checking further, I was told Capita havent sent it on to them yet. Its been 2 weeks since the home visit, is this normal?

We expect Decision to take 2-4 weeks so you are still within this time period.

Hi all
Just a quick update, my husband is really struggling with anxiety so I chased the report up again yesterday. DWP said it hasn't been received so I spoke with Capita who said it was being finalised and they would speed it along.
Today we received a call from Capita saying they want to do a 2nd home visit due to the additional information I sent after the assessor left. I told them my husband was signed off work.
I think this is bizarre and my husband is worried sick. Do you think they have lost the original report or she didn't send it to them- she was typing it up as we spoke.
Does anyone know why they would want a 2nd home visit?
