I think it is very unlikely, their is no requirement to and they most often ring right at the beginning of the process

I rang the DWP today and they have not changed their decision so its onto appeal,

Obviously I would have preferred not to have to appeal BUT now I have to go down that route I want to drag it out as long as I can,

Is there any way I can do that ?

Thanks

The Tribunal Service works to it's own timescales, there is nothing that you can do to slow the process down, however, you may not need to as there are considerable delays in the process due to the number of appeals. Members are reporting wait times for a hearing to be six or even nine months.

The PIP Appeal guide has links to the SSCS1 form that you will need to complete and the Submissions guide has a complete example that you can use to help you fill it in, you do not need to provide detailed reasons at this stage for your request.

Once your appeal is accepted the DWP will prepare their submission to the hearing and send you a copy, whilst you should wait until you receive this to finish and submit your own, you should start to prepare your own case, an increased award will only be made by your showing that you score the extra points for one, so I would start by going back through your PIP2, the assessment report and the PIP Claim guide to see how you might show this is the case.

If you have further questions then please reply to this post and we will do our best to help.

I have been reading through your "50 ways to challenge a PIP medical report"
in it one of the statements is:

"Did the HP ask whether you become anxious when on unfamiliar routes" ?

"Even if you are able to plan journeys and follow routes the HP should ensure you are able to take advantage of these abilities, So for example, you may be too anxious to travel on unfarmilliar routes because you suffer from bowel or bladder urgency leading to incontinence and always need to know where the nearest toilet is".

Gordon, Is this still a valid point to bring up ? and also could the above reason be used to say you cant use public transport ?

Thanks

Yes it is still valid, but it is not a strong argument as it requires considerable acceptance of the circumstances by those assessing you.

Remember following a route is all about your ability to navigate the route and any problems you have must lead back to your being unable to do this.

It may be an argument to show that you cannot use Public Transport, but there are some issues with this. The length of the journey is not defined and could for example, be on stop on a bus, you will need to show that your issues could be this urgent. Secondly, members have reported mixed results with using Public Transport in their answer, the requirement is not included in the legally defined Descriptors and DMs have used this as a reason not to take it into account and score lower.
