Thanks Gordon. Maybe the G.P. did not understand that it was just a tick box exercise. I'll see if my friend can get back to G.P. and point this out. All very scary! Do not want to suggest wrong things to my friend at risk of her frustrating the G.P. I shall have to have a talk with friend and see what she want to do now. I am certainly not pretending to be any expert, just trying to be helpful. What if she does not include GP notes? Can it make that much difference?

Those who have used them have reported that they helped. They are helpful as they force the GP to think in terms that relate to the PIP activities, however, if it is a question of a letter from them then or nothing then take the letter, but as with any evidence, make sure it is supportive, a bad letter can do more damage than no letter at all.

Thanks Gordon.
Exactly what I thought about 'the letter'. Certainly would not want to include a damaging letter. I am thinking that it should match the notes that the C.A.B. advisor wrote on the PIP2 form. As you say, a supportive letter. Friend (and I) can only do our best.

Tomorrow am attending a face to face assessment solely as a companion to support my friend.
Is it appropriate for me to say anything on her behalf, if it is justifiable, during the interview or should I just attend as a witness and keep quiet?

I think you need to ask the claimant what they want you to do or not!

Whether you can contribute to the assessment really depends on the assessor on the day, some are happy to have input from a companion, others not.
