Further, just to be clear….

The letter from IAS written to me (the same day as the form was sent by IAS seeking further medical evidence from my GP) says:"...One of our Health Professionals has looked at the information you sent to the DWP. We're writing to let you know that we've asked for further information from people involved in your treatment or care. We've done this to make sure the assessment report we send to the DWP about your case is fair and accurate. Once we've got the further information we've asked for, our Health Professional may be able to finish your assessment report for the DWP without having to see you in person. But if we don't get this information, or we still have questions, we might need to see you for a face-to-face consultation. If we decide we need to see you, we will write to you with information about your appointment…"

The letter I received today from IAS, written ONLY 3 DAYS later says:

"… One of our Health Professionals has looked at the information you sent to DWP, as well as any further information they asked for from the people involved in your treatment or care. After doing this, we have decided that we need to see you for a face-to-face consultation…"

According to the IAS advisor I spoke to on the phone, the second letter was actioned the day after the first letter was sent, citing 'insufficient evidence'. This is clearly an error as no time has been allowed to obtain the further information at all and so the second letter is false in saying it has been considered.

The IAS advisor was certain that the note she was entering on the system about this would be sufficient in clearing up any issue should the appointment day come and go, without me attending and with the file being returned to the DWP in that case and that I would not 'be penalised' (her words) for not attending.

Any thoughts?

Libra

I would not rely on what you have been told on the phone so I would contact IAS again to confirm what you have been told, you can then decide whether you need to contact the DWP about it.

Should I phone or write to IAS to confirm what I have been told?
