They dont need to send a letter asking for changes when DLA was awarded that letter being many pages long ....goes into also tax discs and mobility cars also makes very plain the need for you to tell them of any changes

also each year the letter you get telling you of the increase also tells you on the last page to tell them of any changes

how many years have you had DLA as you should have got a letter each year with increase and most people are onto dla like a shot if the letters not got my mid april

I wonder why they put you under surveilance? Has some busybody been blabbing about you able to play a round of golf, or were the DWP just suspicious? I feel very sorry that you are in this position, you need some good legal advice. I think that we should all remember that the night has a thousand eyes, as the song goes, and that we should be careful about what we do in view of others. I have been told that as a heart patient I should walk a couple of Miles a day. That would contradict my DLA HRM claim if i tried to do it! If someone saw me they would't know of my severe discomfort, may notice my severe pain, but certainly wouln't be around when I collapsed after 2 to 300Metres and had to be stretchered back. I wil take up cycling. My friend was filmed walking by an insurance company for 5 minutes but they didn't film his following Hour in bed! The DWP are like that.
One thing that intrigues me though Bobbie, why do you need 3 knee joint replacements? All the people I know only have 2 knees...

I would suggest that you get conclusive evidence from a medical professional about your conditions and the help you need that arises from it. Medical conditions alone won't always qualify you for DLA, but its the help you need.

my condition is a lot worse since my last DLA award in 2007 but in the present climate I'm scared to tell them incase they instead decide to take it all off me
So by not telling them I need a lot more help I could get in trouble?

Hi LT,

There is only a likelyhood that a claimant would get into trouble for not informing the DWP of a change in their condition, if said change reduced their needs and limitations that gave the initial award.

Therefore, they may now be getting an allowance that they are no longer entitled to.

In your case, if your conditions and resulting limitations have worsened, then you may be entitled to more money, not less, or non.

Many DLA recipients who were awarded highest rate of the DLA components several years ago, have found that their conditions and resulting limitations/needs have worsened.

However, there would be nothing to gain by informing the DWP of this, as they already get the highest rate of award.

As to the letter of the law, all changes of circumstances should be conveyed to the DWP.

The decision is yours.

I'll get my esa appeal over with then I ought to stop being a wuss I suppose. easier said then done. but oh we could so do with the extra money... the worse I get the more costs and money is too tight as it is... If they just took note of the facts instead of playing these sick nasty games with people who have enough trouble just getting through the day as it is.
