..and a great big thank you from me

"Having read in the latest Newsletter that you are to leave the forum, please accept a great big thank you from me. You have got me through some very difficult times over the past few years. In particular around two years ago when I got zero points after my PIP assessmen, I followed your advice in what were very 'dark' times for me and finally got my award reinstated. I hope you enjoy a very deserved rest from what must have been a very stressful job.”

Thank you Gordon

“Gordon im not one for being over dramatic but you sir have saved so many people from the depths of despair and when they thought there was no hope you held their hand and guided them through the mist of form filling and gave them best advice anyone could. Although your going the battle isnt over and the other moderators are stepping into the biggest shoes i hope and believe they will be able to fill. I do wish you the very best of luck Gordon and thank you doesnt seem enough but thats about the best i can tell you at the moment. Bless your heart Gordon.”

Gordon

“I just want to wish you well Gordan, your help for me goes back a few years now and even when the subject was really difficult and harrowing to broach as in my first few private posts a long time ago you helped me understand what I needed to do for my sister and her benefits. I cannot thank you enough for that and all you have helped me with since. Time to get those comfy slippers on lol and chill a bit, you deserve it my friend.”

I wanted to thank you for your patience, guidance and compassion when I was struggling with illness, bereavement and a benefits claim. “What can I add that hasn't already been said. Thank you for your advice particularly since January this year.at my change over from DLA. You have been there for everyone for a very long time and I know that if it hadn't been for your invaluable advice (and other mods) there would have been a lot who wouldn't have been in receipt of the benefits they deserve. Enjoy your time behind the scenes.”

Gordon

“I rarely post on the forum but would just like to express my sincere best wishes and gratitude to Gordon for his help on the occasions I have posted questions. Thanks Gordon - you certainly deserve a rest.”

“I received the newsletter today and Gordon is retiring. A BIG thank you for all ur help over the years”

Huge thanks to Gordon

“Dear Gordon, I have read of your well deserved retirement from this website. A few years ago I was in quite a bad place filling in forms etc and turned to you for help. You gave me tha advice I needed but apart from that you gave me hope. I really needed the kind words you offered and so just wanted you to know that you will be missed. Thank you for all your help over the years, there are many many people out here who are grateful to you. You will be missed.”

Thank you, Gordon

“Just heard from the newsletter that you are stepping down as mod soon. I don't know how you've managed to cope all these years with a constant stream of frightened, confused and desperate people, asking for help on a daily basis. I'm quite in awe of what you, and all the other mods do here, and would like to offer my heartfelt thanks for your, quite literally, priceless work. Gordon, enjoy your rest, I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than you.”

Gordon – thank you!

“Gordon, I've just read on the newsletter that you are stepping-down from being a Moderator, on 27th November. I just want to say a massive THANK YOU for the help you have given me over the years. You will not realise just how much it has helped. And it's not an exaggeration to say that you've literally helped save my life. Really.. I wish you well and thank you most sincerely”

Bye and thanks a million

“I have no idea where to post this but have just heard that Gordon is leaving.

I’ve been completely out of the loop for many weeks due to my own disability and the health of a family member. Therefore, I’ve only just learned that the forum has closed for an extended Christmas and New Year break. Moreover, I was completely unaware that Gordon has retired from his role as a forum Mod!

I joined the Benefits and Work community in 2012 having found it by Googling and finding an answer on this forum. Gordon was here when I signed up and always been kind, patient, and helpful, even when he was the sole Mod. He has saved me a lot of stress over the years. I wish him all the best for Christmas and his hard-earned retirement.
Cheers,
Mari W

Thank you. I don't think you can really understand just how much your work has done for so many people. We would be trampled under the DWP foot, without people like you helping us up. Have a very happy retirement and thanks again.

Good luck Gordon. Hope that you enjoy every day in the future.
Congratulations on all the hard work that you have put in to this site. I recall that for a long time you were the only moderator on the site. Cannot imagine how you did it. Thank you.
Yes, thank you to Jim Allinson whom I recall helped me with a query.

Being a moderator is by no means any easy feat, especially as it is purely a voluntary role. Hats off to Gordon for moderating for such a long time.

Whilst Gordon has been a longstanding moderator, I believe thanks should also be given to other moderators, who supported the forum in the past with their time and knowledge, in particular, Pete, Jim Allison, Bro58, and mrshurtyback to name but a few.
