You should bear in mind, however, that how you assess yourself and how the DWP might assess you in the future could be very different. This seems to be especially the case in relation to mental health.

However, the final decision about whether you qualify ultimately rests with the appeal system, if you are unhappy with a decision and challenge it. Your own understanding of how the descriptors apply to you should be listened to by a tribunal, even if it isn’t considered seriously by the DWP.
