Just had my medical for PIP. Thought it might be useful for others to hear of the experience.

Done by Capita – very pleasant lady who used to be a hospital nurse.

Capita agreed, without argument, that it could take place at home as I suffer from anxiety and agoraphobia.

Interviewed for an hour.

In the main, the interview followed the questions that are in Benefits and Work’s PIP guide, although perhaps less time spent on fluctuations than I was expecting.

The interviewer used a laptop, but was simply taking notes, rather than following a computer-guided assessment, as far as I could see.

Although my thing is mental, we still had to go through all the questions about preparing food, getting up and down the stairs etc.

I was told at the end that DWP would write with result in 4 to 8 weeks.

All in all, not as intense as I was expecting, and handled very pleasantly. The material in the Benefits and Work guides has proved invaluable for preparation. :)

So far, the reported experience of PIP assessments has been quite good, thank you for posting I am sure it will help others still waiting.

My only issue, so far, has been how long it all takes. I put my original application in back in Feb.

Providing there are no problems with the report, many assessors are still subject to the audit, then the 4-8 weeks the assessor referred to is probably reasonable.
