Hello everyone,
I was diagnosed with ME in 2010 and have battled on like many of us but recently I have been dismissed from my job in the NHs and have been awarded Ill Health Retirement. Recently also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and have a host of other problems. I have been receiving ESA contribution based which Im told will finish in September. I applied for a help sheet for PIp but as it seems to be for severely affected people I didn't fill it it as I don't need help with washing etc. Just recently I have started having debilitating leg pain which my GP thinks is stem loosening from a hip replacement I had in 2011 for arthritis. Seeing consultant this pm. My question is this... when my ESa stops will this be it in terms of financial support, I can't walk very far at all now in fact have had to start using crutches again. I also suffer with depression (not surprising really). Can anyone offer advice about what my options are? Any help would be most appreciated. thank you
Jo

Welcome to the forum.
In case you are not aware, your real name appears to be showing in the forum, if you want to change this then follow the instructions in the following FAQ
My full name is showing, how can I stop it?
I assume that you are in the WRAG and receiving Contribution Based ESA, this being the case then your ESA(CB) can only be paid for 365 days.
At the end of this time you can be paid Income Related ESA if you can meet the associated means test, the payment of ESA(IR) is dependant on your household income, your savings and assets, and any hours that your partner works. See
Asset rule for ESA(IR)
24 hour work rule for ESA(IR)
If you are not eligible for ESA(IR), then your ESA(CB) can only be re-instated if you are placed into the Support Group or you are able to re-meet the Contribution conditions for ESA(CB).
You mention PIP, have a look at our PIP Claim guide for a more detailed explanation of the qualifying criteria, other than the stress and effort, which I won't minimise, you have nothing to lose by applying for PIP if you think you have a reasonable chance of an award.
