TOPIC: do they have to be real doctors

do they have to be real doctors 8 months 1 week ago #91700

After having a home examination last year my dla has been stopped. The person who carried this out ticked the box which said he was a Registared Medical Practioner and signed his name as doctor. On doing checks on this person i can confirm he is a doctor in Engineering, and is not aRMP.

I know that ATOS are using other healthcare practitioners and people who are not registered in UK for ESA assessments (I am not sure about DLA). However, if the person doesnot have any healthcare qualifications then I would feel that this is totally unacceptable.

If you are sure of your facts, you can complain to DWP and many people would involve their MP too

If you believe this to be the case then you should consider making a complaint to ATOS and the DWP. See

With regard your DLA claim, if you are considering an appeal then you should have a look at the following FAQS.

How long do I have to appeal?

How to submit an appeal

I know these facts are true because this person has aweb site with his Professional biography on it and a nice picture of himself.

As no doubt you're aware, the DWP currently contract all medical assessments to ATOS Heathcare

ATOS Health Care Professionals who carry out assessments can be qualified doctors of medicine, nurses, physiotherapists or occupational therapists, but doctors of engineering absolutely not.

You need to contact ATOS at the link given by another moderator and inform them that the guy who assessed you is in fact a doctor of engineering, not a doctor of medicine.

I'd be interested in their reply !
